A man reported missing after his hang-glider was seen to make an emergency landing north of Noosa on Saturday afternoon has been found dead.
Witnesses told police the 61-year-old got into trouble while flying his hang-glider about 2:00pm, and made a forced landing somewhere near Double Island Point.
An air, land, and sea search was launched yesterday evening.
About 8:00am the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter discovered the canopy of the hang-glider half way between Double Island Point and Rainbow Beach, about 750 metres inland from Rainbow Beach.
A flight paramedic was winched to the scene and discovered the pilot’s body.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
